B. Tech programme (Dairy Technology, Biotechnology & Food Technology)
The duration of the B. Tech. programme is four years. All courses are given under semester system. One academic year consists of two Semesters. During seventh and eighth semester the students shall undergo In-plant Training on dairy plant operation and management at Model Dairy Plant located at Institute's premises and in any of the commercial dairy plants as organized by Head DT. Maximum duration for B.Tech programme is 7 years.
Eligibility Qualifications for admission to different subjects in UG:
The eligibility for admission is 10+2 or its equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English from a Board/University recognized by the Institute. Only those candidates who have obtained at least 50% marks or equivalent G.P.A. in the aggregate are eligible for admission to B.Tech. programme. The requirement of marks in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Cast/Tribe and PH is 40% or equivalent GPA.

The candidate should have completed age of 16 years for the particular year of admission and must not be over 23 years. No relaxation is admissible regarding the minimum age limit.
Entrance Examination
The admissions to B.Tech. programme are done through an All India Entrance Examination CUET (ICAR-UG) conducted by the NTA (National Testing Agency). The Ministry of Education, Government of India (GOI), has established the National Testing Agency (NTA) as an independent autonomous and self-sustained premier testing organization under Society Registration Act, 1860 for conducting efficient, transparent and international standards tests in order to assess the competency of candidates for admissions to premier higher education institutions. The candidates are selected for admission on the basis of the merit in the combined examination (CUET) and counselling conducted by the ICAR.
Reservation
- There would be reservation of seats for admission to the extent of 15% for Scheduled Caste and 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe candidates in different disciplines. The reservation of seats among SC/ST categories is interchangeable i.e., if sufficient number of candidates are not available to fill up the seats reserved for ST candidates, these can be filled up from among suitable SC candidates and vice versa in a given subject as per merit-rank in examination. The original SC/ST certificate in prescribed form as per NTA Information Bulletin CUET (UG)-2024 is required to be produced for verification at the time of admission. Depending on merit and choice, such candidates can also take seat from the General / Unreserved Category.
- Reservation for candidates belonging to Central OBC (NCL) category would be available in all Agricultural Universities (including hubs, if any) as notified by the ICAR (File No:Agril. Edn. 12(30) /2023-A&P (e-251195) Dated: 2nd November 2023) as per the latest Government of India directives applicable at the time of counselling and Hon’ble SC Judgment dated 18th August, 2011 and communication of final seats by these universities at the time of counselling. Candidates claiming admission under this category have to produce a Central OBC (NCL) certificate as per standard format of Govt. of India.
- Reservation of seats for EWS shall be in accordance with the Gazette Notification No. DL- (N)/04/0007/2003-19, dated 12th January, 2019, Ministry of Law and Justice (Legislative Department), Govt. of India or any further related Govt. of India directive(s) applicable at the time of counselling. The provision shall be applicable for admission in all Agricultural Universities eligible for ICAR quota seats under the ICAR-AU system and as notified by the ICAR [File No:Agril. Edn. 12(30) /2023-A&P (e-251195) Dated: 2nd November 2023]. The certificate for EWS candidates is required as per standard format of Govt. of India.
- Five percent seats are reserved horizontally across the categories in different subjects, for Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) suffering from low vision, hearing impairment, locomotors disability or cerebral palsy with appropriate medical certificate having at least 40% disability and found suitable by the Counselling Committee/University official.
- Reservation for Remote and Under Privileged States/UT (UPS) Two percent (2%) seats under each discipline would be reserved, horizontally across categories, for the candidates of the remote and under privileged States/UTs namely (i) Andaman & Nicobar Islands, (ii) Arunachal Pradesh, (iii) Dadra and Nagar Haveli, (iv) Daman & Diu, (v) Goa, (vi) Lakshadweep, (vii) Manipur, (viii) Meghalaya, (ix) Mizoram, (x) Nagaland, (xi) Sikkim (xii) Tripura and (xiii) Ladakh; where educational facilities in Agriculture and Allied Science subjects either do not exist or have no SAU(s) and who qualify this examination. UPS candidates will have to produce domicile certificate issued by the competent authority at the time of admission. There will not be any State quota within this quota.
Definition for physically handicapped
Candidates having permanent disability of not less than 40%, provided the candidate is otherwise fit for admission. Such candidates will have to bring a certificate as appended in the Information Bulletin from the Chief Medical Officer of the District to which the candidates belongs. Such candidates will also have to appear before the Medical Board constituted by the Director for determining the percentage of disability and for assessment whether they are fit to carry out the duties despite being handicapped.
Foreign students
Foreign students seeking admission at this Institute shall have to submit their applications through their respective Embassies at New Delhi or the respective Indian Missions in their countries to the Govt. of India, Department of Agricultural Research and Education, Krishi Bhavan, New Delhi-110001 and the candidature of foreign students shall be considered only if they are sponsored with financial support by (a) their respective Governments (b) the Governments of India.
The nominees of foreign countries should have the equivalent qualifications required for admission. In their cases, the percentage of marks will not be insisted. They should possess the requisite Bachelor's degree in the concerned discipline. A good knowledge of English is essential. A certificate of the candidate's proficiency in English, issued by the respective Indian Mission abroad, should accompany their application for admission. Further, the foreign students are required to be in possession of student visa.
All the foreign students other than those sponsored by the Government of India with suitable fellowship such as Colombo Plan ITEC program, General Cultural Scholarship and Cultural Technical Exchange will be charged Institutional Economic Fee @ US $ 400 p.m. or US $ 4000 per annum per student. This fee will be over and above other usual charges of the University.
Last date for receipt of application, results and mark sheet from the foreign applicants will be the same as prescribed for the applicants who are Indian citizens.
As per directive from the Govt. of India, Ministry of Health, New Delhi, health check for foreign students including that for AIDS has been introduced. It has been laid down that foreign students will subject themselves for health check within one month of arrival and till the results are known the students will be provisionally admitted. Their admission is to be confirmed on production of fitness certificate from the competent authority.
